Thanks man. I appreciate the insight. I have no fear of the balance. My wife's rad and our baby is going to be one luck fucker to have parents like us. Finding time to fish is an art in itself. Once the kids are around, it's a whole new ball game.

That's a great shot of your daughter. I too look forward with my little one out on the water. Soon enough - I've got time to sharpen my angling skills before that happens. My wife's due in December. I can't wait, all these shots of everyones children fishing is inspiring. Good luck this season.

Nice cat browntown! You're going to love that thing. Now all you need is a couple drink holders. I just hose clamped some plastic auto ones from kmart to the frame on mine. It's also missing the same thing mine is, but soon to be added... a brownie troop flag! We still have so much snow I haven't even assembled mine yet. Fish On!!

That's pretty impressive you fit a 6-7#er in the net. I wouldn't advocate any more than that! I figured 22" would be about max. I guess that's why they make steelhead nets with bigger hoops. Maybe I'll do some of those at some point. Keep postin them pics!

Hey Browntown. Good luck at the Pulaski trip. A little update from my neck of the woods..
water is super-clear right now, all fish have been coming off natural minnow patterns.. blacks, silvers, whites, etc. Some fish are still coming off corkies and roe sacs also. Would love to make it up to the salmon river, hope you get into em nice and thick!

I dont know. Im still in the R&D phase of them. These are only the first three I have had a chance to make. As soon as I catch something on one of them I will have to pop out a few more. I wanted them to be bouyant but the glass is heavy and they sink. A 30 pounder, not likely. A 10 lb large mouth, probably! Im waiting for it to warm up down here so I can go try them out. Its been exceptionally cold down here compared to the norm and the last two times I went bass fishing they weren't biting on aything.

I just started tying. Not flys though , treble hooks. I started making them for some glass lures Ive been experimenting with. Also they are alot cheaper to make than buy.

Hey BT - That trip is gonna be awesome. Man you got some nice trout on your page. There is a small river/stream down the street from me that they stock with a few different types of trout but I have yet to catch one. I've caught everything else the stream has to offer but no trout yet. I remember living in VT and going fishing down by our local stream. We used to take the ugliest looking home made flies and go commando behind the rocks. We wouldn't even cast, just lob the fly upstream and wait for the hit. We'd have brookies for lunch/dinner in no time!
As far as bringing Mickey up there to go fish. I don't see why not. That guy fishes more then anyone I know. I've gone fishing with him 4 times now and each time is better then the next. His passion is saltwater stripers and blues (If you couldn't tell) but once the season is done, its back to the freshwater fix. He did tell me he's had alot of offers to go to places all over the place and that he will take up peoples offer so it looks good. Shit, I took him out the first time on my boat in one of the hairiest inlets on the east coast and we did great! If you look back on all his reports on the BTFS website, look for "Big Report" This was his trip down to Long Beach Island after their tour. He's got a few pictures from that day on there. I caught my biggest fluke yet at 27" and 8 lbs! Fish on !

Wait till you see this cedar I have. It's the tightest vertical grain western red cedar I've ever seen. It's reclaimed from old pickle vats and has up to 35 growth rings per inch. I pretty much exclusively use reclaimed wood. I've been thinking about doing some sort of boognish inlay for a while now. What about a boognish outline inlaid in contrasting wood? It would be cool to add a btfs touch to the ones for troopers too.
