ocean fishing looks awesome. I go east (NH and Maine) in the spring every year and fish stripers, and been west for salmon, but all these crazy species look awesome. I'd probably scream like a little homo if someone put a skate helmet on my head.

I just got back from Marco Island, Florida on Saturday and had an amazing time. We experienced a cold snap down there for a few days but it wasn't nearly as bad as it was up north. It stayed in the mid 60's for the most part but breezy for most of the week. The fishing was not the greatest but I caught fish none the less so I'm not complaining. One fish I caught that I did not get a picture of was a grouper, (not sure which one) due to a gut hook. I didn't want to keep it out of the water much longer then it was. It wasn't very big, but a fun catch off the dock. It's fucking beautiful down there. I didn't want to leave. It just started to warm up as we were leaving. Oh well, good times.
I'm ready for the salty shit fish comp. Lemme at em' !

I'll make the 12 hour drive from crystal beach, ontario to represent team BTFS. Count me in
the dude at garbagefish.com is named brian and from talking with him i can vouch for his being truly brown. i envision an august showdown (team format) from the surf in jersey. at that time of year all you can look forward to is trash fish and pretty much every species is in the water, including bigger sting rays and real sharks. points will be deducted for anything even slightly game, like a flounder or a bluefish, striped bass, etc.
So what's the story with this garbagefish.com? who is it? should we kick their asses?

Ahhh , The old ice up problem , the only thing that I found to work best is to buy an Orvis helios rod with crushable guides ! When your guides get iced up you can smoosh them and all the ice falls off and they return to their original shape . Its an expensive rod but its super light and the guides are indestructible and their is a 25 year warranty on all their rods. So its worth the $775 u pay , but I would also try sacrificing a virgin on any moon phase and you might as well throw in a goat or 2 for the lunker gods as well !!!!
this is addressing that annoying problem of ice forming on your line and rod tip.........i have tried just about everything to combat this. sprays, gels, different types of line, sacrificing a virgin during the full moon, etc. nothing stops it completly.......some options slow it down. what i've found is buying quality ice line works the best. it will still ice up but not as rapidly as that cheap shit.
