Finally took matters into my own hands and started calling charter boats around Sydney. Ended up hooking up with a great captain (and all around nice dude) named Nathan and I chartered the whole boat for just myself. We fished Botany Bay and outside the inlet, catching our bait on the way out. Ended up nailing some nice yellowtail kingfish, Australian salmon, bream, and red snapper. I always thought that pound for pound a bluefish is the best fighting fish in the world, second maybe only to a jack crevalle, but now I would have to put the yellowtail kingfish on the list. The biggest fish topped out at 31 inches but you would’ve sworn that you had something much larger on the line. Just a wonderful sportfish, I could catch them all day and never get bored. We had an early morning flight to Adelaide today and now I’m gonna catch a nap before our gig. The place where we were fishing was where captain cook landed, the above picture is from the inlet around sunset—nasty swells out there, hard to keep your footing even when you have your sea legs.
