Played our first gig in auckland, we have all rented equipment so it sounded weird to my ears. I hate my amplifier, but I only have to use it for these first two gigs. The auckland gig was pretty stellar, I think we played for 3 and a half hours. It’s been a long time since we broke the three hour mark, and we did it easily and had a great time. We were just plain fried after the show though, the jet lag is still lingering, so we just had a few drinks and then went back to sleep. We had two days to spend in wellington, including a day off, and I had booked a fishing charter for four of us to catch snapper and tarakihi cod. I think that god has a conspiracy to keep me from fishing ever again though because like my last 5 trips, this one was cancelled due to severe winds. I was so pissed that I barely recovered enough to enjoy a rare day off in an exotic land. The wellington show just flat out rocked, we played our asses off to a small sold out crowd of about 450 people. Nothing against the us crowds, but the people over here haven’t seen us play in 11 years, if they’ve ever seen us at all. The songs feel new for us to even play them, which is kind of something I would’ve never expected. The crowds have been fantastic so far, they have been going insane, literally. Other than that, I don’t know what else to say except I’ve never seen such a disproportionate amount of beautiful women with fucking loser boyfriends. There are so many smoking hot women in new zealand and their boyfriends and husbands look like a bunch of poofters. Not to mention the hot asian woman factor. If you woke up in auckland and didn’t know where you were you might think you were in japan. The upside of this is that there are amazing sushi restaurants everywhere and the fish is super fresh. I am allegedly going to do some fishing in brisbane in the next 24 hours, we’ll see how that works out though, at this point I’m not banking on anything.
