Net Photos

Hey you guys. For those of you who have one of my nets, I'm looking for pics of them with fish or otherwise in use. I'm updating my historic woodworks website and would love to include as many as possible. This project is long overdue and daunting in the fact that I hardly have any pictures of my work over the last five years. Since these nets were so fun I thought I'd put some to add a little 'human element' to the site. Even better- the 'Fish Element'. If you have any and could email them to j… Continue

Nets!

Howdy Troopers-
I've been working on the nets and I'm happy to say they are coming out beautifully. I am using ancient Doug Fir and Western Red Cedar reclaimed from old wooden pickle vats. The trees that this wood came from were originally cut around 1860. If you know anything about wood, this is the tightest vertical grain old growth you will ever find. The net hoops are 5 ply which is top of the line. Being made from this type of old well-seasoned wood maximizes strength while minimizing weigh… Continue

Yeah I've been to Percy Priest a couple of times and fished from the bank. If I had a boat I would go after the Stripers that are in there.

Hey Josh, I've been wanting to ask your opinion on putting a quick release on the net you made me. in order to attach it do you think it's best to pilot drill and use an threaded eye to attach the lanyard at the handle end, or drill a hole through the end of the handle and thread it through (1/4" or so)? Is there a suggested re-sealing/ is it needed?

If you could believe it, that steelhead is slightly under average 6-8lb! Average is 8-10lbs, and anything over 10 is considered a trophy! The net worked very well, although it took some adjusting to be able land some of those fish, you could'nt just scoop them right up! You have to guide them in head first and then they fold up and fit! I'll admit that it was to small for many of the fish in the river, but I was so psyched to use it I didn't care! It will work great on my home rivers and most of the rivers I fish on the east. Its also the perfect length to fit onto my new 3 person pontoon boat that I should be seeing any day now! The boat is real similar to your pontoon, 14'9" 20" pontoons Dave Scadden Mckenzie Drifter its a real sweet ride, can't wait for spring and for the water to open up!

The rest of the nets went out this week. Jeff and Brads on Tue and browntown on friday. I've got the tracking #'s if you need them. Thanks fellas, for the motivation- it was a fun learning curve for me. Please don't ever hesitate to contact me if you have any issues as I'm always trying to improve my products. I have one net left but I'm sure I'll do another run at some point. Thanks again Troopers- I hope the nets provide you years of loyal service- Fish On!!
