I finally get a boat of my own.

My friend decided to sell me his old flatboat that he didn't use. It was his grandpas so he was reluctant to let it go. Its a 1979 14-foot flat boat with a 1979 Spirit20 HP motor. It hauls ass. I clocked it today with my GPS at 24.8 mph. Pretty good for a flatboat. Its been a month now waiting on my numbers and registration and I finally got it into water and did some fishing. Caught a few bass. Not too bad.

I just painted it.

R.I.P. Lux Interior

Cramps Singer Lux Interior Dead At 62
Singer died early Wednesday of an existing heart condition.

Lux Interior, lead singer of influential garage-punk act the Cramps, died Wednesday morning (February 4) due to an existing heart condition, according to a statement from the band's publicist. He was 62.

Born Erick Lee Purkhiser, Interior started the Cramps in 1972 with guitarist Poison Ivy (born Kristy Wallace, later his wife) — whom, as legend has it, he picked up as a hitchhiker in California.… Continue

Rebuilding the U.S.S. Johnboy

Here she is. The U.S.S. Johnboy. This is my friend Johns old-ass boat his dad gave him. John is basically my partner in crime when it comes to fishing. Weve been riding around with the floor bouncing around beneath our feet so he decided to cut up the fiberglass floor and take a look.

Skunked

Mandeville's local fishing pier, rebuilt after Hurricane Katrina at Sunset Point was suckin this day. This is all I managed to pull up. The few of us there joked with my friend Matt about catching a bird while he was about to cast and, he came within about two feet of knocking a pelican out of flight with the 3 oz. weight he had on his line. It was pretty funny. Other than that an having to sneak swills of beer out of the cooler due to the "No Drinking" policy on the pier, it was an uneventful f… Continue

More Fishin

Been doing some more fishing. Wupped the Redfish's ass about 3 weeks ago. We caught 23 nice reds with a boat of 5 people. Two away from our limit. Black Drum have also been hitting well in Lake Ponchartrain. I caught one that had barnacles growing off of his side and was bleeding from them. I cleaned these fish at about 1 in the morning and the next morning I could tell the two filets that came off of his sickly ass so I ended up throwing them out. I also managed to skunk out my friends that I w… Continue

Sweet glass lures Brad! Not something I'd jig near the jetties but great idea. You selling them somewhere?

Hey Brad, Nice looking lures, I think you may have a niche! Can those trebles hold onto the glass if a 30lber was tugging at it?

Sorry Brad, it's an optical illusion. Being from Louisiana, I wouldn't expect you to have ever seen an SMI 320. They are a 1970's vintage snowmmaking machine. I don't use them much anymore, but I had them out side the shop parked behind the boat. The Snowguns were coming out of storage as the boat was going in. Now that you mention it... they do look mounted to the boat !

Changing subjects. Sweet glass shop... looks interesting. What do you make?

Thanks for the input. I won 3rd place with my chili. Had to add celery as per your suggestion.

Those crab look tasty (on the message board). I see you are from Louisiana. I'm making a Louisiana creole chili this weekend for a chili cookoff. Got any special ingredients? I'm putting in crawfish, andouille sausage and ground beef as my meats. But what will give it that great creole taste?

Variety is the spice of life! I'm now a scientific glassblower. I went to Salem CC in NJ to get my degree. Now I live in Laguna Hills CA. It's simply lovely and horrid all at the same time.
I'll bet blowing glass down in the heat of NO can get really gruesome! More power to ya, man!
I'd love to see some of your stuff sometime. Shoot me an actual email sometime if ya want.

My own, of course! I made that sculpture about 8 years ago. It was a wedding gift for some friends.
